Sleep Disorders Centers

Do you snore loudly and often?  While many people joke about this, it may not be a laughing matter.  Snoring may be a symptom of sleep apnea, a serious but treatable disorder.  Treatments in our sleep centers may result in more restful sleeping, and days that find you more alert, energetic, and productive.  The start to this end may be a call to one of our sleep centers for a sleep evaluation.

Research

Our research division plays an important role in the development of new medicines.  Participants in our research trials have access to investigative medicines and treatments that are not widely available.  Our participants also have access to pulmonologists and pulmonary testing at no charge.  As a result, these patients have been able to better manage their diseases from better education and long-term support.

Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)

Our PFT is conducted using a Vmax Encore Complete Pulmonary Function Testing Machine.  The Vmax Encore is the latest, state-of-the-art testing machine available.  This machine totally encapsulates the patient, removing any possible interference from the environment.  This is the best method to ‘test’ a patient’s lung capacity and possible responsiveness to different therapeutic applications.

Additionally, a PFT can be used for other purposes.  Some of the most common uses of this technology include:
1.  Determining how much volume can and is being used by the lungs (lung capacity)
2.  Documenting a deterioration or improvement in lung capacity (may be useful for workers subjected to hazardous work environments)
3.  The speed in which the lungs move air from the environment into the body and the movement of waste gasses back into the environment

eICU

eICU, an acronym for Electronic Intensive Care Unit, is a healthcare force-multiplier, allowing specially trained and board-certified physicians, known as intensivists, to monitor the conditions of patients more thoroughly than through traditional means.
According to Dr. Glenn Giessel, the Medical Director for the eICU WATCH, “This cutting-edge technology allows us to keep an even closer eye on our critically ill patients.  This system has been documented to result in shorter hospital stays for critically ill patients and better outcomes.”
